one top today
I am doing tops for a friend that is quilting for me! I completed this one all day today-I love it! hehehe but I do have to send it back one day and i am not a purple person but it turned out great! Please notice the look I am getting! I put pup on the couch so she wouldnt run helter skelter on the top!
she didnt like it either but did great! above is Laci--VARMIT--see ripple afghan??? That is Missy guarding it! hehehe
I have two tops left.
I had done one but took it apart-it didnt come out right!
I have a blue and a green & purple to complete yet. Below is the flowers wall hanging--it is together and ready to quiltguess that is it for today--I should get off here and go and fix dinner--no more sewing today unless I feel like it later on...No shop hopping for me this year. Phyllis (local quilt shop owner) called and asked me to work the entire time--YEAH--money to spend for TB fabrics next year--She had two people call and bow out of helping. this means I wont be around much from the 7th to the 13th and maybe more..
ALSO--LOL--I won the BOM from the guild yesterday with another gal---too bad these are not red-white-blue--I would send them along to a friend...maybe I will just make a couple more blocks to make a bigger quilt and donate the top....now am done till next time ---*~*CAROLE*~*

well, here I am! Pictures include center and top with two borders, then top with the four borders, and of course--the dogs investigating! As you can see from the pics--the blocks had to be assembled just so--as the pattern runs from block to block!
Do you think the girls think they are in trouble? Missy is the pup at 5 1/2 months--Laci is mom's gilr and is 2 1/2 years! Missy runs her ragged! ...I am going to begin cutting blocks so I can complete the wall hanging's top. *~*CAROLE*~*

more TB and playing
I completed all the blocks today--i didnt discover a boo boo till I laid out the last 3 to take a picture---can you find the mistake??? Look at the pic of the 3 blocks--remember -I mentioned that the blocks fit together in ways I never thought but that they had to match up from block to block???
my flower blocks are coming along also! I have almost ten done as you can see.......below are pics of the curtains I made a little bit ago
you can see in the picture, my flowers project and my ripple afghan in progress......I hvent touched the ripple afghan in a couple days--but I will get it done...one of these days--i am happiest with lots of different things to do...I do finish a lot --believe it or not! LOLOL
these pics below are of a cathedral windows something or other which is also a works in progress--I say that lightly because right now it looks great a a runner! LOL--I may start another or make this bigger, havent decided yet!
I met a woman in a class I took when I lived in Lakeside--she showed me how to do this and when i got home, I went to playing so i wouldnt forget. I am working it all by hand--and of course, I have since learned an easier way by machine! now isnt that just the way it goes? *~*CAROLE*~*

MORE TB SQUARES
yep--more Thimbleberries squares...the top is from the 2003 club-there are twelve blocks in this series and it is called lazy crazy quilt--this is very intriguing. there are designs within designs, that go from block to block which will show up when completed. I have 3 more blocks to go--which will probably be done on Saturday.
This is screaming at me to be hand stitched/quilted and i intend to use embellishments and seam treatments, etc,etc..may as well crazy quilt it! This is an incredibly busy quilt., so will consider stitching that will stand above the rest of the quilt--thoughts and ideas welcome! ((~.~))
the picture below are 3 more blocks for a wall hanging that i am making to go with the 2007 quilt I am making in the club. Thimbleberries blends together year to year, so it would actually look great anywhere i put it in the house ((~.~))
tomorrow is sew day for charity in town. I missed the last one as i had gone up to Colorado. Lots of catching up to do with the group but it will be lots of fun--I am baking cookies in the am and then I am off and playing! more, probably Saturday! *~*CAROLE*~*

playing with Thimbleberries fabrics
Sunday most of the day was spent cutting out the 12 blocks from the 2003 club kit I bought in 04. Today I began putting those blocks together---this is what I have done so far....
this is quite a challenge--you can see when the blocks are side by side that there are designs within designs from block to block--yikes, and I was worried about it being appliqué????
I most certainly need to make sure I dont get the blocks mixed around! hehehehe I have already had to rip out two pieces I had assembled wrong! the block below is the TB club block for October, called Raspberry Swirl I enjoyed assembling this block. The two little blocks here--- are from the cover design from a Fons and Portermagazine from 06--I am also using tb fabrics for this wall hanging to match the 07 quilt! This is a darling little design that I will probably work up in 30's reproductions as it is on the cover--it is simply adorable! these blocks are not complete--there is much to be done yet--there are twelve blocks in the design--I may do 16---not sure yet! think I need another wip? *~*CAROLE*~*

RIPPLE challenge so far
here it is--well, I worked on it a bit last night and have begun working in the 5th change of colors.this picture was taken yesterday morning..this is from a vintage kit I had that had been sealed from day one--the yarn is in fantastic shape for it's age and the colors are nice and crisp...John likes it a lot so this one is staying right here.. The ripple design has always been a challenge for me--i dare say, that it has been some time since I tried, but it always got the best of me..Somehow, counting didnt enter the picture till now--and boy is that monotonous, but it is coming along! the ends are nice and even, thanks to counting...and paying attention! *~*CAROLE*~*

This is the block of the month at my local guild--not sure what this is called, or the technique, but the blue is folded and basted to the rectangle---interesting affect--all the blocks will be stars with folded triangles..
this is checkerboard border for TB quilt--we are winding down the year on this one! Two more months after tomorrow. I am really looking forward to next year--i LOVE what I have seen and I know I iwll enjoy it! This set was particularly interesting and kinda boring after a bit-or rather, monotonous but I do like it! Different (for me)
Got to put a child's quilt together again, for a local quilt shop--I get these back for my grandson, or one of my daughter's foster children, or to donate.
This is just adorable and i think it came out rather nice! more another day! *~*CAROLE*~*Tuesday, October 9, 2007
stitching, cutting, playing..having fun, keeping busy
This is my Season to Season block for crazy quilting group. I have done what i want and this will be sent off for another to complete and then it comes back to me! I should be getting Autumn block back soon. I have seen a picture of it and I am very excited about it! As you can see, I have set it on point..didnt know about all that till a dear friend had asked me what i meant about on point...I try to do things differently on occasion-meaning, I dont usually follow the set instructions to the letter--as to what i will do with my four blocks when the set is complete, I believe I might frame them. I may just use a bat and back and bind each and hang seasonally. I have yet to decide. they will be too pretty to use in a lap quilt or such..I still have time to think about it!
been doing a lot in the guild (Green Valley) regarding charity. Two terrific families donated HUGE stashes to charities and using what we can, I have been making up lots of kits for members to play with. This has been a great stress reliever for me! all the fabrics, designs, etc just keep me happy and busy!!!
I have also been playing with my ripple afghan--I have been challenged --this will be my FIRST ripple that I have actually gotten more than about 1/2 dozen rows done. Like many others, this has in it own right, been quite a challenge over the years as I could never seem to get the ends evenly worked past the second row and I would give up and that was that.. now, I have moved into the fourth color group and so far so, but I must say that counting has become very monotonous--hehehehe-7 sp 2 7 add3,7---and i think you get the meaning--7-7-7-7-7-7---I am glad it is my lucky number, but hey!!!! At least i still pick it up to play with it! 7-7-7-7 yipes! LOL
AH--today--I am going to be in my room, sewing! block of month to complete, TB club block/border to begin, and maybe no cq-ing today! who knows--my time is my own to do with as I please today!!! yes indeed---*~*CAROLE*~*

quilting, or playing!
This is the block I made for a TB (thimbleberries-for those that do not know) lottery draw at the end of this month! It actually wasnt too bad to make--it is called no name--LOL! I wouldnt know what to name it either!.
This block is for a season to season crazy block, kinda swap. the owner of the block embellishes half and there is a hostess that sends the block to a partner to be completed and then I will get the block back...I chose simple because i dont care to decorate for Christmas (it is the kids' turn) but I do decorate for winter, and, after all, that season is 3 months long! (as are the others) so I really dont do themes, so to speak. I do, however, love Fall and I use earthtones year round! Some of those are kinda Wintery looking, too! This challenge should be interesting! hehehehe
Also, worked on a bit of one border for the Thimbleberry club...I love the checkerboard, not sure i will use it in the same manner as the instructions---That dear folks, is my rebellious attitude...I never do completely in the same manner as instructions might state..That is too rigid for me! hehehehe and I will talk more about that a little later on! LOL

OH WOW
this is our grandson at about 3 1/2 months--such a good baby. I got to spend some time with him on Saturday after we returned with Ilea from Colorado, so Joe could help his sister move things into storage...not sure what was left there, as our home is crowded now..
Yesterday was sewciety meeting or get - together, and good friend there brought me lots of beads and metallic threads and some other goodies for cq-ing. Silly me forgot to take a picture of a Fall block swap that I completed last night using some of me newest stash.
We took two days to drive to Colorado and we spent the night at the home of our daughter's friend. Imagine my surprise when I walked in and family room and right within direct eyesight was the most beautiful and well kept crazy quilt I had ever seen...
The other thing that amazed me was rather quicky trunk show and short story. these last few pictures were from around the house as the quilts were used for decorating. Every one of the quilts was hand made from beginning to end by her grandmother who passed on this summer at the age of 103. She quilted until she was approximate 98 and left no uncompleted projects. Too bad I didnt have the opportunity to meet her. I might have learned something and certainly would have been very inspired!
While in Colorado, I managed to run around looking for a mountain scene fabric for a class I am taking later this month...the only LQS near was closed---and I couldnt find anything in Hobby Lobby (gosh, we need one in Tucson area). I did manage to find two suitable pieces on Ebay--yea--good 'ol Ebay! now, looking forward to class and playing and playing! I also get to make another Child's quilt for the LQS where I help out--this is a cutie! more on that soon *~*CAROLE*~*
